- This is centre-channel cancellation, not AI stem separation. It removes whatever is mixed to the centre - which is usually the vocal, but is also often the kick, snare and bass, so those thin out too. Vocals with heavy reverb or wide stereo placement survive the cancellation. Mono files cannot be processed at all.
If it does not work
The vocal is still clearly there
It is not mixed centre, or it is drenched in stereo reverb. Centre cancellation cannot remove it.
The drums and bass disappeared too
They are also centre-mixed. That is inherent to the technique.
Nothing happens with a mono file
There is no stereo difference to work with. Mono cannot be separated this way.

Vocal Remover uses centre-channel cancellation with the Web Audio API on your device. It is not AI stem separation, and knowing the difference saves frustration:

- Sound mixed equally into both stereo channels sits in the centre. Subtracting one channel from the other removes the centre, which is usually where the lead vocal is.
- Analyze & Split
- Produces a vocal-reduced and a music-reduced version from your stereo file.
- Mute Music / Mute Vocal and levels
- Balance the two while the track plays.
- Export
- Save the mix you have set.
What it cannot do
- It removes everything mixed to the centre, which often includes the kick drum, snare and bass, so those thin out too.
- Vocals with heavy reverb or wide stereo placement survive the cancellation.
- Mono files cannot be processed: there is no stereo difference to work with.

How it compares with the alternatives

Use a genuine stereo file
Mono or fake-stereo files will not separate.
Try studio recordings
Live recordings and heavily produced tracks separate less well.
Adjust the levels while listening
Small changes can bring the bass back without the vocal.
Use WAV or high-quality MP3
Low-bitrate files leave more artefacts.

Why is the vocal still audible?
It is not centred, or it has wide stereo reverb. Centre cancellation cannot remove it.
Why did the drums and bass get quieter?
They are also centred, so they are partly cancelled too.
Is my song uploaded?
No. It is processed on your device.
Does it work on mono files?
No.
Can I use the result commercially?
The tool does not change the copyright of the song. Using a reduced-vocal version of someone else's music still needs the rights holder's permission.
