The problem

Why Shopify builds stall before they sell

A live store is not the same as a store ready to sell. Owners comparing agencies usually arrive with one of these.

A paid theme installed as-is, with demo sections nobody adapted to the catalog
Product pages that crawl on phones under oversized images and stacked apps
Collections sorted by hand, so every new product means more manual tagging
Shipping, tax and checkout copied from a tutorial rather than configured for your region
Nobody to call when a Liquid edit breaks the cart drawer a week before launch

Our approach

Custom Shopify development, scoped in writing first

We build Shopify stores from a written spec you approve before any Liquid is touched. It covers the theme approach (an Online Store 2.0 theme extended with custom sections, or a full custom build), product and collection structure, the metafields buyers will filter on, and every integration the store must talk to. You see wireframes and a section map first, so what gets built is what you signed off.

Development runs in two-week sprints, each closed with a Loom walkthrough. We use Shopify's own tools wherever they exist: sections and blocks instead of hard-coded pages, automated collections instead of manual tags, Shopify Flow for routine actions, native metafields instead of data apps. Fewer moving parts means less to maintain after handover, and the store stays editable from your admin.

What's included

  • Theme setup and customization — An Online Store 2.0 theme configured with your sections, color schemes and typography, plus custom Liquid where needed.
  • Custom sections and templates — Size guides, bundles, comparison tables or lookbooks built as sections your team edits from the theme editor.
  • Product and collection setup — Products, variants, metafields and automated collections structured so filtering, search and merchandising work from day one.
  • Responsive build and conversion basics — Templates tested on real phones, with sticky add-to-cart, visible shipping and returns, and express checkout enabled.
  • Integrations — Email, reviews, inventory, ERP or fulfillment connected through Shopify APIs, Shopify Flow, n8n, Zapier or Make.
  • SEO foundations and migration — Clean handles, title templates, JSON-LD, a Search Console-ready sitemap, and a 301 map when migrating.

Process

How we work

Discovery call

A free 30-minute call about your catalog, markets and current setup, then a fixed-fee proposal with scope and timeline.

Spec and wireframes

Templates, sections, metafields and integrations documented and wireframed. Nothing is built until you sign off.

Build in sprints

Two-week sprints on an unpublished theme, each ending with a Loom walkthrough and a preview link you can click through.

Launch and support

Theme published, redirects live, analytics checked, documentation handed over. We stay available for fixes and retainers.

Benefits

Why brands build with us

Native features first

Sections, metafields and Flow before apps, so monthly app costs and theme conflicts stay low.

You own everything

Store, theme code, domain and app accounts sit in your name, with no lock-in to us.

Fixed-fee scope

The price in the proposal is the price for that scope. Changes are quoted, never slipped in.

Editable without a developer

Custom sections expose settings in the theme editor, so banners, copy and layouts are yours to change.

Fit

Who this is for

  • DTC brands launching a first Shopify store with a real catalog and margins to protect
  • Retailers leaving WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace or Magento without losing search traffic
  • Stores on an aging theme that need Online Store 2.0 sections and faster mobile pages
  • Businesses that need Shopify wired to inventory, email or fulfillment systems

Common use cases

New store build

A complete storefront from theme selection through products, payments, shipping zones, taxes and a launch checklist.

Theme extension

Adding product page layouts, collection filters and custom sections a purchased theme does not ship with.

Platform migration

Moving catalog, customers, orders and URLs to Shopify with redirects so existing rankings keep working.

B2B and multi-market setup

Wholesale price lists and gated catalogs, plus Shopify Markets for currencies, domains and regional shipping.

After launch

Need ongoing store management after launch?

Products, collections, content and data keep changing. Our ecommerce virtual assistants keep the store current, and the repeating parts can be automated.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What drives the cost of a Shopify development project?
Four things: catalog complexity (products, variants, metafields), how much of the theme needs custom sections rather than configuration, the integrations involved, and whether data is migrating from another platform. A small catalog on a customized theme is a very different job from a large one with wholesale pricing and an ERP sync. We scope it on the discovery call and send a fixed-fee proposal before work starts.
How long does a Shopify store build take?
Scope decides it, so the proposal carries the timeline rather than a generic promise. A customized theme with a modest catalog and standard integrations usually fits in a few sprints; a custom theme, a large migration or complex B2B rules take longer. The factor we cannot control is content: if product photos, descriptions and policies are ready when we start, the build stays on schedule.
Can you migrate my store from WooCommerce, Wix or Magento?
Yes. We export products, variants, images, customers and order history, clean the data, and import it through Shopify's CSV importer or the Admin API for larger catalogs. Reviews move through the review app's own migration path. The step most migrations skip is the redirect map: every old URL matched to its new handle and loaded as a 301, so existing links keep working after cutover.
Who owns the store and the code after launch?
You do, from day one. The Shopify store is created under your account, the theme lives in your theme library, and custom code is documented in a handover file. Apps are installed on your store and billed to you directly. If you later hire another developer or an in-house team, there is nothing to transfer and no dependency on us.
Do you provide support after the store goes live?
Every build includes a post-launch window for fixes on anything covered in the spec. After that, clients either book work as needed at a fixed fee or keep a monthly retainer for new sections, seasonal landing pages, app swaps, theme updates and speed checks. Retainers are optional and cancellable, and nothing in the build assumes you will need one to keep running.
How does working across time zones work in practice?
TaimurTools is a one-founder studio in Pakistan serving clients in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and the EU. Communication is mostly asynchronous: a shared task board, Loom walkthroughs after each sprint, and email or WhatsApp for quick questions. Calls are scheduled to overlap with your morning or late afternoon, and work done during your night is ready for review when your day starts.
