How the options work
Edit PDF shows your document page by page and lets you add to it. Everything happens in the page with PDF.js and pdf-lib:

- Write freehand. It is much easier on a touchscreen or with a stylus than with a mouse.
- Undo and Clear page
- Undo steps back one action; Clear page wipes your additions on the current page only.
- Save PDF
- Writes your additions into the pages and downloads the result. The daily allowance is counted when you save, so you can edit freely and save five times a day.
What it cannot do
- It cannot change or delete text that is already in the PDF. It only adds on top. Changing existing wording needs a full PDF editor.
- Your additions are drawn into the page, not added as annotations. Once saved, they cannot be selected or edited again here, so keep the original if you might need to redo it.
- A drawn signature is a picture of your signature, not a certified digital signature. Some organisations accept it and some do not; check before you rely on it for a formal document.

How it compares with the alternatives
Full editors such as Adobe Acrobat can change existing text, add proper annotations and apply certified digital signatures. Preview on a Mac can also add text and a saved signature. If you need to change the document's own words, use one of those.

A finger or stylus gives a far more natural signature than a mouse.
Look at the whole page first
Check where the line or box is so the text lands where it should.
Save before you finish a session
If you are unsure whether a page's marks are kept when you move on, save first. Your additions cannot be edited after saving.
Keep the original
Saving burns the changes in. Keep the untouched file in case you need to start again.
