Your file is opened and processed by JavaScript inside this page. It is never uploaded and we never receive it. The page does download the processing library it needs from a public CDN the first time you use it - that request carries no part of your file.

- Page numbers are the PDF's physical page positions counted from 1 - not the page numbers printed on the page, which often start later because of a cover or contents page.
If it does not work
"Invalid range"
Use digits, hyphens and commas only - 1-3, 5, 7-9. Words and roman numerals are not parsed.
You get fewer pages than expected
A number in the range is past the end of the document; out-of-range pages are skipped rather than erroring.
The ZIP will not open on a phone
Per-page mode produces a ZIP. iOS and Android need a file manager to expand it - use range mode if you only want a few pages.

The file is password-protected. Remove the password first.

Applications often want only the signature page, or only the pages with your details. Type those page numbers and download just them.
Removing pages you do not want to share
To drop pages 3 and 4 from a 10-page file, extract everything else: type 1-2, 5-10. You end up with a new file without them, and the original is untouched.
Making a long document easier to compress
Splitting a big scan into parts lets you compress the heavy section on its own and leave the typed pages alone.
How the options work
There are two modes, and the choice decides what you download:
- Extract a page range
- Type the pages you want, separated by commas, with a dash for a run of pages: 1-3, 5, 7-9. You get one PDF containing exactly those pages.
- Split into one PDF per page
- Every page becomes its own PDF, delivered together in a ZIP file. A 12-page document gives you a ZIP of 12 files.
- Which numbers to type
- Page numbers are the physical position in the file, counting the first page as 1. They are not the numbers printed on the pages, which often start later because of a cover or contents page.
- The result
- The pages are copied across with pdf-lib, so they keep their original size, content and quality. Nothing is re-encoded.
What it cannot do
- Encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Remove the password first.
- It does not split by file size, by bookmark or by text, only by the page numbers you give it.
- Because pages are copied, document-wide features such as bookmarks and form fields may not come with the extracted pages. Check the output if you rely on them.
- Large files are bounded by your device's memory. The free allowance is 5 runs per day for this tool, counted in your browser and reset at midnight UTC.
How it compares with the alternatives
Preview on a Mac and Acrobat on a PC can both extract pages, with thumbnails so you can see what you are choosing. If you are not sure which pages you need, a viewer with thumbnails is easier than typing numbers blind.
Split PDF is quicker when you already know the page numbers, when you are on a phone, or when the document is private and you do not want to hand it to an upload service. The file is processed inside the browser tab and never reaches this site.

Getting a better result
Check the physical page number
Open the PDF in a viewer and read the page counter in the toolbar, not the number printed on the page.
Use ranges for runs
1-3, 5, 7-9 is faster to type and harder to get wrong than listing 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9.
Name the output
The downloaded file has a generic name. Rename it before you send it so the recipient knows what it is.
Use per-page mode for filing
If every page is a separate document, the ZIP saves you doing twelve extractions.
