About Rotate PDF

Fix sideways or upside-down PDF pages by rotating them 90, 180, or 270 degrees — entirely in your browser. Your file is never uploaded; TaimurTools applies the rotation locally and saves it back into the PDF, so the document stays on your device. No signup, no watermark. Perfect for correcting scans that came in the wrong orientation.

  • Rotate selected pages 90/180/270°
  • Saves rotation into the PDF
  • No upload — fully private
  • Free, no signup or watermark

Runs on your device

Your file is opened and processed by JavaScript inside this page. It is never uploaded and we never receive it. The page does download the processing library it needs from a public CDN the first time you use it - that request carries no part of your file.

Free tier: 5 runs per day for this tool, counted in your browser. The counter resets at midnight UTC and is not shared between browsers or devices.

A worked example

Input
A 3-page scan where every page is on its side, angle 90 degrees clockwise.
What comes back
A 3-page PDF that reads upright.
Worth knowing
The rotation is applied to every page. A file where only some pages are sideways needs splitting first, rotating the affected part, then merging back.

If it does not work

Only some pages needed rotating

This tool rotates all pages. Split out the affected pages, rotate them, then merge.

The page looks unrotated in one viewer but rotated in another

Rotation is stored as page metadata. A viewer that ignores it shows the original orientation; most current viewers honour it.

"Failed to load PDF"

The file is encrypted. Remove the password first.

Nothing happens when you run it

You may have used your 5 free runs of this tool for today. The page shows a "Daily limit reached" notice; the counter resets at midnight UTC.

When to use Rotate PDF

Fixing a scan that came out sideways

Scanners and phone apps sometimes save pages on their side. Rotate them so they read upright.

Making a landscape document readable on screen

A wide spreadsheet printed to PDF in portrait can be turned so it fills the screen properly.

Correcting an upside-down file

A stack fed into a scanner the wrong way round comes out upside down; 180 degrees fixes every page at once.

Preparing pages before merging

Turn a sideways document upright first, so the merged file reads correctly from start to finish.

The options, explained

Rotate PDF turns pages with pdf-lib inside your browser. There is one choice:

90 degrees clockwise
For a page lying on its left side.
180 degrees
For a page that is upside down.
270 degrees (90 counter-clockwise)
For a page lying on its right side.
Every page
The rotation is applied to all pages of the file. It is stored as page metadata, so the page content is not redrawn and quality is unchanged.

What it cannot do

  • It rotates every page. If only some pages are sideways, split them out with Split PDF, rotate that part and merge it back.
  • It cannot straighten a slightly crooked scan; it only turns pages in 90-degree steps.
  • Rotation is stored as page metadata. A viewer that ignores it shows the original orientation, though most current viewers honour it.
  • Encrypted PDFs cannot be opened; remove the password first. The free allowance is 5 runs per day for this tool, counted in your browser and reset at midnight UTC.

How it compares with the alternatives

Most PDF viewers can rotate the view, and Acrobat and Preview can rotate individual pages and save the result. If you only need to read the file, rotating the view is enough.

Rotate PDF saves a corrected file you can send to someone else, without installing anything or uploading the document.

How in-browser processing works, and exactly which tools are the exception, is explained on the why client-side page.

Getting a better result

Check which way the text runs

If the top of the text points left, choose 90 degrees clockwise; if it points right, choose 270.

Split mixed files

Rotate only the part that needs it, then merge.

Rotate before merging

Fix orientation in each source file first.

Check in another viewer

If one viewer still shows it sideways, try another; the rotation is stored in the file.

More questions about Rotate PDF

Can I rotate just one page?

Not directly. Split out that page, rotate it, then merge it back.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Page content is not redrawn.

Why does one viewer still show the page sideways?

That viewer ignores the stored rotation. Most current viewers honour it.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The rotation happens in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is the file uploaded?

No. pdf-lib rewrites the file inside this page; nothing is sent anywhere.

Can I rotate one page only?

Not in this tool - it applies the angle to every page. Use Split PDF, rotate the part you need, then Merge PDF.

Does rotating lose quality?

No. Only the page's rotation value changes; the content is untouched.
