Runs on your device

Your file is opened and processed by JavaScript inside this page. It is never uploaded and we never receive it. The page does download the processing library it needs from a public CDN the first time you use it - that request carries no part of your file.

Free tier: 5 runs per day for this tool, counted in your browser. The counter resets at midnight UTC and is not shared between browsers or devices.

How TaimurTools handles data · Why most of these tools run on your device

What this tool is for

  • Turning an iPhone HEIC photo into a JPG that any app or upload form accepts
  • Getting a PNG down to a web-friendly WebP
  • Flattening a transparent PNG to a JPG with a clean white background
What it doesConverts an image - including an iPhone HEIC/HEIF photo - to JPG, PNG or WebP by decoding and redrawing it on a canvas inside the page.
Accepted inputOne image: HEIC/HEIF, PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or BMP, plus the target format: JPG, PNG or WebP.
What you get backThe same picture in the chosen format, keeping the original file name (photo.heic becomes photo.jpg), with a preview and the before and after file sizes and pixel dimensions.
LimitsCapped at 5 runs per day for this tool. One image at a time. HEIC transparency (rare) is not kept, and for a multi-photo HEIC only the main photo is converted.
Browser requirementsAny current browser. HEIC uses the browser's own decoder where it has one (Safari); elsewhere a 1.3 MB decoder downloads from cdnjs the first time you convert a HEIC file. WebP export needs a current browser.

A worked example

Input
An iPhone photo, IMG_2045.HEIC, target format JPG.
What comes back
IMG_2045.jpg at the same pixel dimensions, with the before and after sizes shown, ready for any app or upload form.
Worth knowing
Converting to JPG discards transparency - transparent areas become white. Metadata such as EXIF is not carried across, which is useful for privacy but means camera and location details are not kept; the browser applies the orientation tag first, so photos stay the right way up.

If it does not work

"Could not convert this HEIC photo"

Some HEIC variants are not supported by the decoder. On the iPhone, share the photo with "Most Compatible" (or set Settings > Camera > Formats to Most Compatible) to get a JPG directly.

The first HEIC conversion is slow

The 1.3 MB decoder downloads once. Later HEIC conversions in the same visit are faster.

Transparency turned into white

JPG has no alpha channel. Use PNG or WebP to keep transparency.

The JPG looks softer than the original

JPG is lossy. Use PNG for screenshots and line art, WebP for a good middle ground.

How to use Image Converter

  1. Add your imageDrop it onto the upload area, or click to pick it. HEIC photos from an iPhone are accepted; the tool switches the format to JPG for them.
  2. Choose the formatJPG for photos, PNG for screenshots and transparency, WebP for the smallest file on a website.
  3. Convert and downloadClick Convert, check the preview and sizes, and download.

When to use Image Converter

Converting iPhone HEIC photos to JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC, which many Windows apps, websites and upload forms will not open. Convert to JPG and it works everywhere, without uploading the photo.

Making images smaller for the web

A PNG screenshot converted to WebP is usually a fraction of the size at the same dimensions, so pages load faster.

Opening a WebP in an older app

Some older programs and upload forms do not accept WebP. Convert it to PNG or JPG.

Meeting an upload form's format rule

Forms that accept only JPG or only PNG are common. Convert to the one they ask for.

Removing camera metadata

Converting drops EXIF data, so the result carries no camera or location information.

Flattening a transparent PNG for a document

Converting to JPG fills transparent areas with white, so the picture displays the same everywhere.

The formats, explained

Image Converter decodes your image in your browser - HEIC included - redraws it on a canvas and saves it in the format you choose:

HEIC / HEIF input
iPhone photos. Decoded by the browser where it can (Safari), otherwise by a 1.3 MB decoder downloaded from cdnjs the first time. The photo itself never leaves your device.
JPG
Lossy and small, no transparency. Best for photographs. Transparent areas become white.
PNG
Lossless, keeps transparency. Best for screenshots, logos and graphics; large for photographs.
WebP
Usually smaller than both, keeps transparency, supported by all current browsers. Best for websites.
Result
A preview, the pixel dimensions, the before and after file sizes, and a download that keeps your original file name with the new extension.

What it cannot do

  • Converting to JPG discards transparency.
  • EXIF metadata is not carried across. The browser applies the orientation tag before converting, so photos come out upright, but camera and location details are dropped.
  • HEIC: transparency is not kept, only the main photo of a multi-photo file is converted, and a few HEIC variants cannot be decoded - the tool says so if that happens.
  • One image at a time, with no quality slider. For a specific file size, use Image Compressor.
  • The free allowance is 5 runs per day for this tool, counted in your browser and reset at midnight UTC.

How it compares with the alternatives

Image editors and batch converters can convert many files at once and let you set quality, resize and keep or strip metadata selectively. Use one for large batches.

This tool is the quick option for a single file in the browser, without uploading it anywhere.

How in-browser processing works, and exactly which tools are the exception, is explained on the why client-side page.

Getting a better result

HEIC to JPG for sharing

JPG is the safe choice for anything you send to someone else or upload to a form.

Use WebP for websites

Smaller files, same appearance.

Keep PNG for screenshots

Text stays crisp; JPG blurs it.

Compress afterwards

For an exact size limit, run the result through Image Compressor.
